At the start of the Restore program, the simplest thing I wanted to do was go down
a playground slide with my two kids. My bottom now fits on any slide. When you
can’t physically fit on things like playground slides, you have to stand and watch. I
felt like I was watching the world move by around me. I now think I can do
anything and have recently completed my first mini-triathlon.
Before being introduced to the Restore program, I was heading for a heart attack,
knee replacement surgery, and diabetes. Restore changed my life. My daughter
and husband tell me every day that they are just so proud of me for sticking with
the program, for getting healthier, and for overcoming my medical issues. They
said, “We want you to be here for a long time, and you are doing the things that
will allow this to happen.”
When I started Restore in November 2017, I weighed 278 pounds and had a BMI of
39.9. By March 2018, I weighed 242 pounds with a 34.7 BMI. Overall, I have lost 60
pounds, and I don’t plan on stopping. The best lesson I have taken from my time
with Restore is that everything I am doing is sustainable.
I suffered from non-alcoholic fatty liver disease – at the start of the Restore
program, my liver weighed 8 pounds, and I was told I would need a liver transplant
if I did not make a serious change. My liver now weighs 5.2 pounds, and a
transplant is no longer necessary. The greatest gift is a long life, and the Restore
program allowed me to have one.
My cholesterol level has never been this good in my life, even while on
medication. After being on the program for four months, all my blood levels
became normal. Also, I was allowed to cut my blood pressure prescription in half.
Improving my overall health has been my biggest accomplishment, and the
Restore program has given me the confidence to now make healthier choices.
The most significant improvement in my life has been not carrying all the extra
weight. I lost 66 pounds while on the Restore program, mainly just by switching my
nutrition plan. I now have confidence, knowing that I can stay healthy and that I
want to do so. Family and friends have noticed that I smile more, which is
something I haven’t done in quite some time.
I no longer need medications for cholesterol, triglycerides, and blood pressure.
Getting my blood work results down, for me, has been my most significant
success. I am not only healthier for me, but my family’s sake as well.
